MAKIL I La tribu qui chante
Choreography : Jean-Claude GALLOTTA & Théophile ALEXANDRE I Musical creation : Henri TORGUE & Serge HOUPPIN
Mali is a tribe speaking Kreul and its existence is at risk. Don’t look up for it on a map ! It doesn’t exist, as well as its language. Yet, we do undestand them : with our eyes, with our ears, and especially with our hearts.
With their turbulent tribe of 30 singing and dancing children, trained by the Justiniana company, Jean-Claude and Théophile have imagine an original creation for them, playfully mixing singing and dancing and refusing to isolate each art, in order to reinforce the universal bonds that unite us all as human beings.
For the 40th birthday of Les Arts Florissants, Paris Philharmonie takes us at the heart of Baroque music by exploring several cities where this music was important. Each session includes a conference and musical illustrations performed by musicians of Les Arts Florissants.
Next stop : LONDON, with the musicologist Pascale SAINT-ANDRÉ, the countertenor Théophile ALEXANDRE and the harpsichordist Florian CARRÉ, for a journey into english baroque music, from Dowland to Purcell and including the british compositions of Haendel.

Gluck’s “Orfeo & Euridice” is a classical opera masterpiece, embodying the heroic face of courage as well as temptation by questioning the shining actions we can do by love, but also its darkest torments. French countertenor Théophile ALEXANDRE sings the leading part of Orfeo and delivers a powerful and overwhelming interpretation, both vocally and physically, transcending this absolute and universal quest for love, in a modern and poetic reinvention of this classical myth.
